Executive Director

Michelle Taylor

Michelle Taylor has called Terrace home for over four decades.  She graduated from Caledonia Senior Secondary School, receiving the Rotary Citizenship award in her senior year.  She went on to take Tourism Marketing at BCIT and received the Tourism Excellence Award upon graduation from the program.  She moved to Prince George where she was the Senior Manager for the Prince George Civic Centre for 5 years before moving to Kamloops to run the Sales & Marketing department for the Coast Canadian Inn. 

 Since moving back to Terrace in 2007, Michelle has held a number of exciting positions including; Executive Director for the Northern BC Winter Games, Economic Development Officer of KTIDS, and most recently, Director for Emergency Support Services for the Regional District Kitimat-Stikine. 

 Michelle is no stranger to “Chamberland", having been actively involved with several Chambers of Commerce including Prince George, Kamloops and Terrace.  She has been an active member on Chamber boards, she had chaired Chamber sub-committees and she has represented various employers at provincial Chamber Annual General Meetings.   Throughout her career, Michelle has actively sought out opportunities to be involved in her community, and she has a deep understanding of the value a Chamber of Commerce can bring to the locals it serves.    

 Michelle’s parents, brother and sister-in-law also call Terrace home as well as her enterprising niece and her inspiring nephew.  She is also extremely proud to be the first 3rd-Generation Executive Director for the Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce, preceded by her Grandfather in 1978 and her father between 2004-2007 (and hopefully succeeded in time by either her niece or nephew!)  

 Michelle has a passion for skiing, kayaking and the outdoors and truly believes that an active, engaged community brings out the best in the people who call it home.  She is extremely proud and humbled to lead this innovative organization into its next chapter.  

 

 

 

Office Assistant & Finance

Thecla Fladhamer

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Thecla is the only existing staff member of the newly formed Terrace Business Resource Centre, previously known as the Terrace Economic Development Authority (TEDA). Thecla worked as the Office Manager at TEDA for approximately 10 years working directly under the Economic Development Officer.  She works with the Terrace Chamber on a contract basis, assisting part time, particularly in the Finance department. Prior to her work at TEDA and the now TBRC office, she worked with the Member of Parliament in the Skeena Riding as an Executive Assistant over a 10 year period, as well as with the Ministry of Forests as the Executive Secretary to the District Manager in Mackenzie, B.C. in her earlier years.
